"One Village, One Product" movement was originally pioneered in Oita Prefecture in Japan. The idea behind the concept is that each municipality should have at least one competitive product that is distinctively its own to offer to the market.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of the Bangladesh government is developing under a "one district one product (ODOP)" scheme, which was chalked out to diversify the country's export basket. Products such as agarwood of Moulvibazar, clay tiles of Satkhira, and rubber of Chittagong Hill Tracts to develop for attaining global standards and enhancing productivity.
The aim of our District Fair at Dhaka Rickshaw Fiesta is to develop the quality of the product, processing technology and packaging in an international standard with the help of Japan Embassy, JICA, JETRO, the Japanese prefecture government and private companies.
In the near future, we will have a workshop in Dhaka for the artisans of Bangladesh with the Japanese artisans.
